Principal's Message

Welcome to David A. Brown Middle School (DAB), DAB is the Place the Be! The staff at DAB is committed to increasing the achievement of all students both academically, socially as well as emotionally. We offer a wide range of programs and support to engage students in learning and connect them to school. In addition to our Exploratory classes ( Art, Teen Living, Computers and Spanish) we have P.L.U.S., ASB, academic interventions, tutorials, Yearbook, Conflict Mediation, Show Choir and Band to name a few. Our advisement time (PTB) offers students an assortment of additional enrichment activities for students to choose from if they maintain passing grades. Students needing additional support will be scheduled into advisement classes based on individual learning needs. Students are able to change PTB activities each grading period.

The staff at DAB is committed to a collaborative focus on student growth and achievement. In Professional Learning Communities teachers review student learning, create common assessments and share instructional methods.

As teachers focus on the state standards, expanded use of instructional technology will prove to engage students in the learning process and prepare them for the future. At DAB we continue to increase our technology and expand technology use in the classroom.

We look forward to working together and hope that you will actively participate in your child’s education by joining our PTSA, School Site Council, ELAC, WatchDOGS and/or coming to school events. Communication is extremely important and we hope that you will access our new website for information on events, links to staff, programs and a variety of resources. Please do not hesitate to contact teachers or staff with questions or concerns.

On behalf of the entire staff at DAB, we welcome you to David A. Brown Middle School. We look forward to another exciting year and working with you as partners in your child’s education.

Sincerely,

Karen Gaither, Principal
