Write a paper on a topic related to the 1986 Challenger Disaster. 

1.  Biography of Christa McAuliffe or one of the other six astronauts

2.  Where are her husband and children today  30 years later?

3.  Describe the Challenger Tragedy

 

If you do a biography on McAuliffe, you may want to watch this youtube video and take notes.  That will give you all the material you need to write an excellent biography on our first Teacher in Space.

Report for Unit 6, Chapter 23, is due Wednesday, January 27th, at the end of the period.  We will be working each day on these reports, however most students will need to complete some of the work as homework in order to ensure they have enough time to finish.  Students are required to pace themselves and to "assign" themselves homework if necessary.

Setting the Stage, Unit 6, due Friday.  You may need to complete work at home Thursday evening in order to be finished by the end of the period Friday.  Remember that this assignment is worth 100 points - and it is a fairly easy 100 points!

Students are working on their Unit 2, Chapter 7 assignments in class this week, however in order to finish by the due date Friday they will need to do some of the work at home.  I am asking them to give themselves "homework" based on the progress they have made in class.

Extra Credit Assignment:

You have learned on the CNN Student News that there are 10 individuals who have been nominated for the CNN Hero of the Year Award.  These are two of those people.  Write a brief biography on one of them.  It must be at least one page written or typed, with a cover, and a picture.  The extra credit points given will depend on the quality of the work.  The two names are Monique Pool (started a sloth rescue project) and Maggie Doyne (established a home for children in Nepal).  Only choose one.

Unit 1, Chapter 4 One-Pager due at the end of the period

The Unit 1, Chapter 4 One-Pager is due Friday, October 16th, at the end of the period.  It is worth 100 points!!  Remember that you may need to do some of the work at home.

CASTLE PROJECT

 

There is an error on the Assignment Sheet for the Castle Project.  The due dates shows as Monday, 12/4, and there is no such date.  I will accept Castle Projects either Friday, 12/4, OR Monday, 12/7.  My apologies for the confusion.

Dr. Wayne Dyer just died.  Write a 2-page biography that includes:

1.  2 written or typed pages describing Dyer's life and death

2.  a cover with a title, plus your name, date and period

3.  a picture of some kind, either drawn by you or printed from the computer

We are beginning our Unit 1, Chapter 2 report this morning in Social Studies (Thursday, Sept. 3).  We will be working each day in class, however I have explained to students that they will probably need to complete some of the work as homework.  Students are pacing themselves - taking responsibility for completing the entire report.  The report is due Thursday, September 10th, at the end of the period.

Follow the written instructions on your assignment sheet.  Some of this will need to be done as homework if you are going to complete the work on time.  The report is due Monday, August 31st, at the end of the period. 

(If it were me, I'd make sure that all of the work was completed by Sunday night, and save ONLY the cover page and putting the report together for Monday.)

Your Unit 1, Chapter 1 report is due at the end of the period Monday.  If it were me, I would have everything finished by class Monday except for my cover.  Then I would have the entire period to complete my cover and put the report together carefully, staple, and turn in.  Remember that this report is worth 100 points!

Students have been working on their Unit One, Setting the Stage assignment, pages 4 + 5 of their Social Studies textbooks.  They should copy the written portion word for word, and draw, label and color both maps.  They will have several days in class to work on this, however they are expected to do some as homework if they find they don't have enough time in class.  The assignment is due at the end of the period Thursday.  They will have about 20 minutes on Thursday to complete their work.
